This week I have been studying Paul’s letter to the Ephesians for the new series we will start in our Adult Bible Fellowship this Sunday.
Take a look at some of the verses we find in this book. Read them slowly (if you are too busy now, come back later):
What a huge, huge privilege!
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” Eph. 2:8~10
Note the following verse does not say we should be light. It says we are light in the Lord, and are expected to live as such (what does that mean?):
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” Eph. 5:8
This is serious stuff (the bad guys are not sleeping).
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take a stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” Eph. 6:11-12
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Eph 3:20-21
Why don’t you find a quiet corner somewhere, and read the letter to the Ephesians today? It may be a letter to you.
